Most of the people are not born rich, but poor. More often than not, they start their own business or come up with a brilliant idea that will change their life forever. Such people are more than famous today. To name but a few: Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet and Oprah Winfrey. All these people have greatly influenced the way in which money is produced. Nothing has come easy for these rich people. They have strived through hard work and determination.

In my opinion, the most influential female of the rich people is Oprah Winfrey. She is an American media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist. Her multi-award-winning talk show has become the highest rated of its kind in history.  Oprah has been ranked on the list of rich people the wealthiest African American of the 20th century, the greatest philanthropist in American history and she was for a time the world’s only billionaire of African-American heritage. Oprah is not the only one on the list of rich people.

Another powerful name on the rich people list is Warren Buffett, one of the most influential business magnates in the department of insurances. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful investors and is ranked among the world’s wealthiest people. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, has become a conglomerate holding company that oversees and manages a number of subsidiary companies.

Probably one of the most famous example of rich people is Bill Gates. Gates is the father of the Windows operating system. Ever since its creation, millions of people worldwide have been using this operating system. He is one of the best known rich people and entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Another example of rich people in the computer industry is Steve Jobs, who similarly to Bill Gates has changed the face of communication and computers when he introduced the Mac PC and the iPhones. Just like them, there are many other rich people that worked very hard and were very determined to get where they are today. These rich people own large fortunes that ordinary people cannot even dream of having.

Well, to be honest, that is true, but there are some situations when this rule does not apply. Many rich people have not always been rich. They were born poor and they worked very hard to get were they are today. With ambition, talent, perseverance and a little bit of luck, they managed to become rich people and to have an immense success.

Examples to illustrate this fact there are many. One of the most relevant cases of rich people who were born poor is Roman Abramovich, a billionaire who is also known as the titan of oil and aluminum. He became an orphan when he was only 4 years old and he was raised by his relatives. He did not have an easy life, but by 2005 he became on the most rich people in the world. Another example of rich people born poor is the international superstar Oprah Winfrey. She is the queen of daytime talk-shows, but prior to becoming a celebrity she had a rough time. Oprah was born by a teen mother and she was raised at a farm, by her grandmother. As a child, she was a victim of sexual abuse, but that only made her stronger, as she is now one the most powerful and rich people in the world. J.K.Rowling is also part of the rich people born poor. Although the Harry Potter books and movies are extremely popular, prior to their success Rowling confessed that she was broke and depressed and that she even contemplated suicide.

What Does Being Rich Man

Filed under: Rich People - 29 Aug 2011  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Since the beginning of time, people had only one thing in mind: being rich. The wealth has though different meanings for everybody. Some consider that you can only be rich if you have tons of money, while others think that the wealth comes from the inside.

There has always been a debate between these two theories. Nowadays, people generally consider that you are rich if you have a consistent fortune, which includes money, properties and companies. This is why everybody is working hard, the difference being that some are working to have food on the table and others to increase their fortunes. However, is it fair to say that the people which fall into the first category are poor?

As it is often said, happiness comes from little things, fact that many people forget. They become obsessed with having more and more and no matter what size their fortune is, it is never enough. As a result, they alienate themselves from their friends and family and they usually realize too late that their lives are empty. Being rich is therefore nothing if you do not have anyone to share your wealth with.

On the other hand, being poor is not much more fun either. Many people are struggling to survive, and although they have the moral support of their families, they are never pleased either. They become frustrated and they start to resent the rich people. This is why it has been created some sort of barrier between people and so they have all kind of prejudices about being rich.

Personally, I believe that the best solution lies somewhere in the middle. Being rich is nothing without your family, but you cannot support your family without money, either. Happiness is a relative thing, and everyone understands it differently, in their own way. It is said that money does not buy happiness. Well, the lack of money is not much more fun either.

Rich People Giving Away Money

Filed under: Rich People - 16 May 2011  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Many people dislike rich people. While there are quite a few reasons why someone may feel this way, one common reason is because others feel that rich people are greedy. Although this is a common stereotype, that doesn’t mean it’s true. On the contrary, many rich people are quite generous. Over the last few years, there have been quite a few high profile examples of extremely wealthy people giving away significant amounts of money.

One great example of rich people doing good with their money is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Although this foundation was created back in 1994, it’s notoriety significantly increased in 2006 when Bill Gates announced that he was stepping down from Microsoft to focus his efforts on the foundation. Gates has put quite a bit of money into his foundation. Not only did he put in nearly one hundred million dollars when he founded it in 1994, but he made another huge donation of $126 million in 2000. What’s even more impressive is that Gates isn’t the only person using his foundation to give away money. In 2006, Warren Buffett announced that he was giving away 10 percent of his company to the foundation. In the year he made this donation, this amount of his company was worth around thirty billion dollars!

Thanks to the money that it has to work with, this foundation is able to do a lot of good on a regular basis. Examples of how this rich foundation has given away money in 2011 include its Gates Millennium scholarship, a project to decrease the prevalence of malnutrition, child care centers in impoverished areas, a project for child immunizations and helping to fund higher level education programs.

What Rich and Powerful People Helped Get Obama Elected?

Filed under: Rich People - 21 Sep 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Barack Obama claimed that the majority of his campaign money was built up slowly over time, from people who could only afford to donate 20 to 50 dollars at a time. This does not seem to be the case, however. A closer examination of the Obama campaign reveals that there were many large contributors to his campaign, far outdistancing the small donations he received.

During his campaign, Obama spent time in San Francisco. While there he had many large events he attended, putting in an appearance and receiving all of the proceeds from these gala events.

Several of these events cost 2,300 USD for each guest to enter. Some of these events also held as many as 400 guests. This means that Obama was receiving close to 100,000 USD from each of these events, of which he attended several. On one day he attended several, meaning he received 300 million for just one day of gala attendance in San Francisco.

Some of the notable wealthy people who put on these gala events are Ann and Gordon Getty. Located on the legendary Billionaires Row, their house is one of the largest and most extravagant. Other contributors and hosts to these events were Norman Stone, Peter Haus, Levi Strauss and Peter Sperling. Many of these people were heirs, of everything to the University of Phoenix and Getty Oil.

All of these contributors and galas allowed the Obama campaign to walk away with millions of dollars, flying in the face of their claim that they were funded by the “little people.”
